Alex Jeantinor

Class Twenty-One
"The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit.”
Throughout the summer of 2020, Alex saw black people being both killed and abused on multiple fronts, whether it be the causes of the pandemic, acts of racism, and government backlash, Alex understood that nobody could help us but ourselves. Seeking knowledge to arm himself with, Alex sought to make an impact in his own community by following the example set by Progressive Black Men, Incorporated.

About Alex Jeantinor

Hometown: Miami, Florida

Major: Health Science

Minors: Public Health

Graduation Year: 2022

From Haitian descent, dedicated to family and the pursuit of equity for black people & people of color across the world, Alex hopes to become a Physician's Associate and use these resources to create opportunities for the youth in his home community of North Miami Beach to explore more avenues for career success. His favorite ways to spend time include watching/playing basketball, traveling, and spending time with friends/bros. He believes that no matter where you are or what you are doing, there is always a way to better yourself. “If you cannot commit to pushing yourself to be the best you can be,” Alex proclaims “…you’re cheating yourself and those who depend on you.” This mindset is also tied to his love of basketball, courtesy of the late Kobe Bryant. He uses this mantra to push myself through the grind on my way to becoming a healthcare professional and remind myself that he will never be perfect – and that’s a good thing.

Coming to the University of Florida was a humbling experience for him, because academia was something that had always come so easily to Alex, and suddenly it was difficult. During his time here, Alex realized that it is hard work that separates those who make it in life from those who thrive in life, as well as the willingness to ask for help. With God in my corner, He has built relationships with plenty of people that he now considers family, and Alex has taken many steps towards realizing his dream
